Hey everyone, it's me again, you know Boris the handsomest dog, checking in. It has been quite the week I can tell you. Maggie had to go see the vet man again. Can't see why cos she is as lively as ever so she don't seem sick to me but you know what Mum's are like, always worrying about the babies.
Me and her have been playing too, running up and down like daft things. It is such fun and Mum thinks it's good too cos we are getting something she calls exercise. Works for me! I'm just frolicking around like I was still a puppy too. Sometimes though I am having so much fun that I get a bit too frisky and Mum has to tell me to slow down cos I am s'posed to be teaching Maggie, not getting into trouble too. Woopsie, Sorry Mum..........
Also, I am getting lots and lots of tummy rubs cos Mum thinks it's only fair if Maggie gets one I should have one too. Bring them tummy rubs on Bossman and Mum! I can handle all you can give.
If I had known it was gonna be this good I'd have asked for a baby sister a long time ago instead of waiting for them to go out and get one.
And cos I am such a good guy I am letting Mum write on my blog again. Now that's gotta be worth a treat or two, eh Mum?????
Over to you Mum......
Maggie will be 8 weeks old tomorrow
Another week gone by. We had to take her back to the vets last Monday because I suspected she had tapeworms. I was right, unfortunately, so they wormed her for them and I think she pooped it out as there was a long white thing came out and I haven't seen anything moving in her poop since then. She had gotten her first shots when we took her the previous week and they wormed her too but apparently they have to use different medication for the tapeworms.

Good news is the bare skin patches have all but gone. I think in all honesty they were caused by her chewing on her front legs and tail. She may have been left alone for long periods. We will never know. Occasionally, I catch her having a chew on her tail but we are able to distract her. Her tail is the worst but the hair is coming in nicely but it's not back to normal yet. Her front leg patches have all grown back in so that is good. Her tummy hair has grown back in but sometimes the red ring mark shows up so for now I am applying the medication the vet gave us which is for fungal infections. It doesn't seem to trouble her at all. She also got an owie on her head somehow. The vet shaved around it to check it out and said it seemed like it was just a scratch. It didn't help that the clippers broke the skin too so she had a scab form on her head. It has now just just finished breaking up and fallen off. Oh! and she has a little bump on her tummy where the cord was joined. The vet said it is probably a hernia and should right itself but if not they will take care of it when we get her fixed.

Poor little baby has been through the wars in her short life.
Also, she had put on 3.5lbs in 10 days and I suspect another several since we got her weighed last Monday.
The vet said she is actually in very good shape healthwise despite the niggly problems.
She is sleeping all night now but very occasionally we have a pee accident in her crate. I don't mind getting up and letting her out in the middle of the night but sometimes she just doesn't let me know. I read that they can hold themselves for as many months old they are so I am not worrying about the accidents yet, I am sure they will stop in time. She will always let me know if she needs to poop though so she has the concept, we just need her to apply it to the peeing as well as the pooping. All in good time, I am really happy with her progress so far.
She is trying to engage Boris in play more and more and he is reciprocating. He is warming up to her. Secretly, I think he is enjoying having her here, if for no other reason than he is getting a lot of attention from us so he doesn't feel left out.
She does not like walking on her leash much. She doesn't mind the leash at all being on but she doesn't much like just to walk. She still likes to run around and play and lie down as she chooses. We have to keep her on it outside as our yard isn't fenced. We have one of those retractable ones which I know the trainers don't approve of. For us though, it gives her the opportunity to run around.
I am hoping she will eventually get to enjoy going for a walk.
A couple of times a day she goes into hyper mode and we haven't worked out yet what triggers it. We are working on exuding 'calm' to keep her from doing it and just play normally. Last couple of days she has been a little better.
All in all, it's been a great week with her. I am more organised because of her, I have to plan to do things when she is napping so I can devote time to her when she is awake and keep her exercised.
The steroids from the Doc have been a great help to me. I have nearly finished the course of them and really, really hope I continue to feel better.
